Memory of Syria

Syrian shepherds - oil on gessoed MDF, 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20 cm)

This little painting was inspired by a distant view of shepherds during a holiday a couple of months before the uprising.  Some of the sheep have strong gingery-red patches and the ram had them in stripes.  I may do another version as I enjoyed this so much.  The photo is not great and is not showing the light and warmth.  Best I could do on a very grey day.

Poppy fields and country road

Poppy fields and country road - oil, 16 x 9 inches (40 x 23 cm)
Another take on the last painting, this time a summer one.  Not a great photo of it as the light was not good and there's a bit of reflection.

When or if I do another it will be a snow scene!

Spring yellow

Spring yellow - oil on canvas board, 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20 cm)
Odd to have been painting something of Spring as the snow moves across the country!  This is a road to one of my favourite local dog walks - Danebury iron age hill fort.  At any time of the year it is interesting as the field colours and crops change and the light catches the pine trees.  I thought the view leant itself to a slightly more contemporary look.

I now have an idea for a snowy version with a different shape but will have to use my imagination as we only had a sprinkling last night.  However, I have seen it in full snow in the past.
