Time for a small wintery painting!

Jackdaw keeping warm - oil on gessoed card, 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20 cm)
Last week was very chilly and I thought it was time for a winter picture.  The weather promptly turned warmer!  Maybe we artists can manipulate the weather!

I saw this bird one autumn in Devon and was struck by the intricacy of the distressed chimney pot and the relative plainness of the bird which is of course, just as intricate but not necessarily at first glance.  I hope you can feel the warm air ruffling its chest feathers.

The colours in this image very slightly fail to show the cooler sky which is better in the original painting.
